Just Call Us Media Darlings!
Our segment on Fox TV's Thursday night magazine show, The Pulse, finally aired on April 3rd (after being preempted by the war). They said that when they wanted the scoop on babies, they went "to the front lines-- The New MOmmies' Network!" The show featured new moms from our Manhattan group, giving their opinions on a new device that interprets baby's cries. Thanks to Courtney Crystal, Marti McCarthy, Catarina Hulme, Kat Olin, Stephanie Jacobovitz, Lauren Bailey, Livia Moratta, Kim Foley, Kathy Dean and Michelle Mars!
New Mommies’ founder Lori Robinson would like to thank everyone who called to say they saw her on Long Island's News 12 spreading the word!
We're all over the globe now! "At Noon," a TV news magazine show seen in Holland, Austria, Switzerland and Germany, taped an event we did this summer in Greenwich Village,"You Oughtta Be In Pictures: Getting Your Baby Into TV, Soaps, Commercials & Print." Thank you to all the moms and dads who participated.
Then, when Company magazine, a Hearst publication (similar to Glamour) in Great Britain decided to do a story on British women in the U.S. deciding to have babies after 9/11, they came to us. Thank you to Tracy Bartolazo and Eva Driscoll for agreeing to talk to the reporter.
We hope you caught the following Westchester new moms on Oxygen TV. Thanks to Jennifer Calder of Larchmont, Rosanna Ciccone of Scarsdale, Heather Dichiaro of West Harrison, Thumper Moyle of Mount Kisco, and Hanne Murphy of Larchmont for participating in an Oxygen TV segment on "mompreneur" Jeantte Benway (inventor of the Cozy Rosie),taped at our recent "Why Didn't I Think of That?" luncheon, all about how to invent a new baby product. SOLUTIONS FOR FINDING
A PART-TIME BABYSITTER IN NYC
Finding a part-time sitter in NYC is problematic at best. Nannies want full days (sadly, they're probably lying if they say otherwise). What's a mom to do? Here are a few suggestions:
You can try our Nanny-Share Board (see bottom of home page) or check out the bulletin board at your pediatrician's office. Look for a neighboring mom who would like to help her nanny fill her week (so she won't leave). Or, join with another mom to begin a nanny hiring search together (with the intention of sharing).
You might want to forgo the professional nanny route and look for a student sitter. There are many advantages to hiring students, including that they generally want irregular or sporadic hours; may charge less per hour than nannies, and top on my list, they are more likely to sit and play on the floor with your child.
(At your own risk) Here are some places to look for sitters:
